We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our partner organizations, Backfield in Motion, and their mission to make a positive impact on the lives of Nashville's youth. Backfield in Motion is a driving force in fostering educational success and personal development for young individuals in Nashville.
Backfield in Motion (BIM) is a non-profit organization that focuses on education through mastery of literacy and numeracy skills for at-risk youth that leads to a high school diploma, a foundation for higher education, and the job skills needed to enter the world of work, while using athletics as an incentive for academic improvement. Through a variety of programs and activities, BIM focuses on fostering teamwork and building academic and social foundations, ensuring students are challenged with rigorous instructional methods and high academic expectations. BIM’s academic program is one of the only programs in Davidson County that employs certified, state licensed teachers.
BIM has a strong history of collaboration with Metro Nashville Public Schools; through their partnerships with MNPS, they seamlessly integrate their programs into the school system, reaching students where they are and providing the support they need.
"Our involvement with Alignment Nashville helps us stay informed and aware of emerging needs and opportunities within the school district and community,” said Todd Campbell, CEO of BIM. “Members of my team serve on A-Teams and other collaborative initiatives through Alignment Nashville, which is time well spent to help us respond to the ever-changing needs of the students we serve."
