On August 3rd, the MNPS + Friends All-Star Basketball Celebration event brought excitement and community spirit to Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena. The event, featuring local celebrities, athletes, and educators, was a fun showcase of talent and camaraderie. Alumni players from Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) teamed up with friends and supporters to deliver an unforgettable experience for attendees. Headliners on the basketball court included Mayor Freddie O’Connell, Tennessee State University Head Basketball Coach Penny Collins, and former Boston Celtics player Dontae’ Jones. Alignment Nashville was proud to provide event planning and management support.
The game was more than just a display of basketball skills; it was a celebration of the unity and collaboration between MNPS and the community. The event highlighted the importance of community support for our public schools and celebrated the recent achievements of the school district as students, families, teachers, and staff prepared to return to school on August 6th.
In addition to the on-court action, the event featured performances from the Cane Ridge High School Band, MNPS high school cheerleaders, fun giveaways, and opportunities for fans to engage with their favorite players and community leaders. Also highlighted was the recent premiere of “Every Student Known,” an anthem written and recorded by MNPS students.
The successful event left a lasting impression, with participants and attendees already looking forward to next year’s celebration. Thank you to Lipscomb University for hosting this year's event!
