As 2011 comes to a close, we would like to thank all of you for your support and commitment to improving children’s health and academic outcomes in Nashville. Over the past year, Alignment Nashville committees have:
- garnered 254 responses to 18 Invitations to Participate (ITP)
- engaged 244 organizations through the ITP process
- included approximately 675 people on committees and task forces
If you haven’t had a chance to read our 2011 Annual Report, here are a few highlights:
- The Pre-K Committee distributed more than 4,000 packets of information to parents registering their children for Pre-K, developed a resource guide for early childhood educators, and saw a continued increase (73% increase since 2006) in circulation of Essential Literature titles at the Nashville Public Library.

- The High School Committee wrapped up its first five-year strategic plan;

- The School Nutrition Committee, which received a $50,000 grant from the Healthways Foundation and a $47,000 grant from the Baptist Healing Trust, is implementing a pilot in 10 schools to increase fresh foods and decrease processed foods served in the cafeteria;

- The Social Emotional Learning Committee (formerly Behavioral Health) produced its first resource guide and held a professional development conference;

These are just a few highlights of the many successes this year. We are grateful for your involvement and support, and we are looking forward to many more wonderful successes in 2012!
