Adolescence is often called the last frontier before a young person becomes an adult. This normal period of human development usually starts around age 11.
With adolescence comes the physical changes we are accustomed to. What we can’t see, or often choose to ignore, is the development of sexual feelings.
This is the critical time when parents need to have conversations with their children around sex and healthy habits. Studies have shown that accurate and age-appropriate information is the best protector against risky behaviors, leading to poor health outcomes.
