Education on the importance of immunization and related risks.
EVIDENCE
Currently, 79.1% of Nashville’s 24-month olds are fully immunized.
1 of every 5 toddlers is at risk for a VPD.
Children are most vulnerable to contracting these preventable diseases during the first two years of life, and need 80 % of their vaccinations by their second birthday.

STRATEGIES
Identify populations with low immunization
coverage rates.
Educate anti-vaccine activists about the importance of immunization.
Assess the immunization needs of immigrant and refugee populations.
Systematically implement physical exams for children in grades 3,5,7, and 9 to introduce vaccines for older children.
Improving access to vaccines (weekend/evening hours, transportation, assure medical home ).
Mandate vaccine updates for school attendance.
  TACTICS
Legislate EPSDT in the 6th /9th grade.
School district requires for 6th and 9th grade.
Link driver’s permit licenses to EPSDT documentation.
Increase education of parents and students re: benefits of EPSDT.
Incentives for parents and children (partnering with businesses).
Information on accessibility and availability.
Assuring adequate access.

More accurate reporting gives better data to
evaluate progress.
